Most people think that only adolescents can get acne. However, there is a condition called adult acne, which really is simply a matter of distinction. The onset of acne can occur at various stages in life. But it would be correct to note that you see acne more often in teens than in adults. The formation of acne in the adolescent years can continue to affect the person in the adult years. There isn't a single rule as to why this can happen, there are lots of factors that can be contributing. So it really is in the best interest for anyone with acne to seek the advice of a dermatologist. When you do that, then you will be assured that you are receiving the most accurate form of treatment.
Acne vulgaris is another word for acne, and it's certainly a common skin condition. Due to there being many sebaceous follicles around the face acne is most commonly found here. That's the reason for seeing acne on the upper chest, back and face. There are minor and major expressions of acne with the least serious being simple whiteheads and blackheads. But do keep in mind that even those two minor acne formations can lead to vulgaris and even more serious acne. Squeezing anything on your face isn't a good idea as in most cases the blemish will get worse.
There are actually many different kinds of conditions that are considered to be acne. Some of the more common symptoms or appearances are whiteheads and blackheads which are known as comedones. People that have pimples can have two different types including pustules and papules which are much smaller. Acne is associated with inflamed and scaly skin that is often red in appearance. Cystic acne is actually one of the worst kinds to get because it is hard to treat and can cause lifelong scarring. Large nodules that appear on your face can be painful and unsightly.
Just as there are many kinds of acne, there are a number of different scars that can occur. A very recognizable type of scar is called the "rolling scar" and you will realize you are very familiar with this type of scar when we give an example. Rolling scars are distinguished by their uneven, wavy appearance and their bumpy texture. The "ice pick" scar is also very common. I probably don't have to explain what ice pick scars look like, as it's easy to figure out from the name. These scars penetrate deep into the skin, like a hole, and account for that pitted appearance some people get with acne. If you looked at the "ice pick" holes, you would notice that they are quite deep. The most common reaction in teens, and even adults, who have acne is to try to evacuate the blemish. But, squeezing will simply cause inflammation if the comedone is closed. There are no ways of bringing a deep blockage to the surface, so squeezing will only make everything a lot worse.
