The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 runs Android 3.1, which boasts faster, smoother transitions between applications as well as broader support for gamepads, joysticks, USB accessories and external keyboards. The tablet goes on sale nationwide on June 17. Samsung said it will customize all devices offered on American flights, adding expanded memory.
Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android Market now exceeds 200,000 applications--consumers have now installed more than 4.5 billion Android apps, averaging 1 billion app downloads every 60 days. Developers, however, have been slow to write Android apps tailored for the tablet form factor, with Android Market offering roughly 100 tablet-optimized apps at last count.
